De La Salle returned to the winner’s circle in a high-scoring affair on Saturday afternoon, winning 38-36 over Collegians at picturesque Henson Park. A penalty goal proved the difference with both sides scoring seven tries and four conversions.

Leading 20-16 at halftime, De La Salle extended their lead to 36-16 with three unanswered tries before Collies mounted their comeback, scoring four tries of their own but fell agonisingly short of a seemingly unlikely come-from-behind win.

The win ensured the Shire outfit remain at the top of the competition table with 20 points, two ahead of Thirroul, with Wests in third place on 17.
With two rounds remaining, Collegians round out the top four on 16 points, three points clear of Dapto, who were soundly beaten 34-0 by Thirroul, all but ending their finals chances. Wests and Corrimal had a bye.

In Harrigan Plate action, Berkeley defeated the Butchers 22-20, while Avondale Wombats scored 10 tries to 1 in their 52-4 win over Collegians.

Avondale Greyhounds won the battle over Harrigan Shield newcomers and neighbours the Wombats with a convincing 44-8 victory to continue their undefeated season run.
Second-placed Figtree scored 52 unanswered points over Berkeley, while the Devils and Northern Bulldogs kept their finals chances alive with wins over Windang and the Cougars.
