Wests proved too strong for Thirroul in the rematch of last year’s Harrigan Cup grand final with a 30-10 victory at Mt Kembla Park on Saturday. Elsewhere, Collegians defeated Corrimal 68-0.

Wests bounced back from last week’s opening-round loss in clinical fashion.
The defending champions set the tone early with Colby Pellow scoring in the opening minute and Jy Hitchcox a short time later to give his side a 12-0 lead after 15 minutes.
The Butchers scored next, narrowing the gap to 12-6 at halftime. Tries from Levi Pascoe and Lachlan Hurst opened up the game and extended the Devils’ lead to 24-6 before the Butchers score their only try of the second half.
George Jennings put the icing on the cake for the home side with an acrobatic effort in the corner in the 67th minute.
Debutant Clay Baldock landed 5 conversions from as many attempts to round out the Devils’ dominant performance.

Collegians record big home win over Corrimal
Collegians have opened their 2025 campaign with back-to-back wins under new coach Jimmy Grehan. The hosts ran in 12 unanswered tries against the Cougars, with centre Nicolas Hall as the standout, crossing the line four times, while Joshua Dowell and James Lee added two tries each.
Blair Grant was near-perfect with the boot, converting 10 out of 12 attempts.
De La Down Dapto
De La Salle scored the opening two converted tries, establishing a 12-0 before Dapto’s attack kicked into gear to score two of their own and trail 12-10 at the 30-minute mark in a closely fought contest.
Two unanswered tries to the Shire-outfit either side of the break gave them an unassailable 36-10 lead before a consolation try to the Canaries.

In Harrigan Plate action, the Butchers beat the Devils 28-24, and the Cougars defeated Collegians 20-16, scoring three tries to two.
Round One of the Harrigan Shield got underway over the weekend with Figtree scoring a 32-12 win over Wests and Avondale Greyhounds defeating Windang 38-10.
Jackson Ricketts scored a double in Northern Suburbs Bulldogs’ 22-12 win over Corrimal, while Avondale Wombats scored 29 unanswered points against Berkeley.
