Both Corrimal and Berkeley will be eager to collect the two competition points on offer in the opening game of the 2020 IRL first grade competition, brought to you by MCR. The Cougars host the Eagles in the only Friday night fixture of the season on 3 April.
Last year’s runners up Wests take on Helensburgh away, while Dapto and Thirroul renew their rivalry on the opening weekend of the season.
Meanwhile, defending premiers Collegians have to wait until round two to begin their title defence after receiving a first-round bye.
During the off-season all senior clubs voted in favour of dropping the pre-season competition to extend the competition proper from 14 rounds to 16. To accommodate the additional two rounds, each club will play one opponent three times while two clubs, Collegians and Berkeley, will receive an extra bye.
All teams will have the weekend off over the Easter, Anzac and June long weekends with a spare weekend also allocated as a wet weather contingency.
The Grand Final rematch
Wests supporters will have to wait until round six to see if their side can avenge their 16-14 defeat at the hands of the Collie Dog’s in last year’s decider. However, last year’s grand finalists will meet three times during the regular season courtesy of the new draw.
The match of the round will be broadcast live each week on Bar TV while all matches will be available on replay over in our match centre.
The finals series will commence on Sunday, 23 August with the decider scheduled for Sunday, 13 September.
