In the Open Age competition, Helensburgh kept the heat on front runners Thirroul and Avondale with a win over Wests. Avondale got one back on Thirroul with a win at Dandaloo Sportsground and join them as equal competition leaders. Dapto broke through for their initial win with a 34-32 win over Corrimal.
In 2nd Division, newcomers Figtree continued a climb up the ladder with a big win over Helensburgh, and now face reigning premiers Wests at home on Saturday. Helensburgh and Avondale face off at Rex Jackson Oval with the winner still in the hunt. Should the Crushers get over Wests, three teams will be locked up at the top of the table, with it then all coming down to deferred round one fixtures on Saturday 19 September.
This Saturday will see our live streamed Open Age match on BarTV between Helensburgh and Thirroul at 3.30pm. The Tigers must win to keep their hopes alive, and Thirroul will be looking to wrap up a place in the grand final with a win. Other games see Dapto host Avondale in a local derby at 3.10pm, and Corrimal host Wests at 3.10pm.
