Steelers ready for triple treat at Collies

A triple-header of Illawarra Steelers action is on offer this weekend, with the SG Ball, Tarsha Gale Cup, and Harold Matthews Cup teams lining up against the Parramatta Eels on Saturday at Collegians Sporting Complex.

Currently sitting in third-place on the ladder, the Tarsha Gale Cup girls will kick off the day at 10:30am. After a bye last week and a win in Round One, they are raring to go against the Eels, who are in eighth position after a win and a loss in their opening two games.

Second-rower Ella Koster played a starring role in her team’s Round One win over the Penrith Panthers, scoring a breakaway try in their 28-0 win.

The Shellharbour and Albion Park junior says the team is refreshed and ready for their match against the Eels this weekend, with the energy around the group improving by the week as they continue to develop as a team.

“It’s been really exciting coming off a win, but we still know there’s a long road ahead if we want to get to that final spot. We’ve just been ripping in really hard and focussing on the job to get done,” Koster says.

“We came from all different Clubs, but things are really starting to gel together and get that really good team bond.”

In the other matches at Collies on Saturday, the Harold Matts boys will be looking to make it three from three when they take on the eighth-placed Eels at 12pm.

The SG Ball team will kick off at 1:30pm, with Russ Aitken’s squad looking to build on the confidence gained in last week’s 34-20 win over the Storm in Melbourne.
