SG Ball continue their winning ways

The Coastwide Steelers SG Ball side continued their winning ways with a 30-10 win over the St George Dragons in Round 6 of the NSWRL Junior Reps over the weekend. Leading 14-0 at half-time, a Tobias Miller hat-trick in the second half paved the way for the 20-point victory at Community Oval, Moss Vale.

In earlier Harold Matts action, the Steelers scored four tries to three in their 22-14 win over the Dragons. The Steelers got off to a flyer with converted tries to Ramsus Munro, James Walsh and Seth Pearman setting up an 18-10 lead at the break.  The Dragons were first to score on resumption of play, closing the gap to four with 15 minutes remaining before an Isaac Laughton try sealed the win with five minutes remaining.

Meanwhile, the Steelers suffered their first loss of the season in the Harvey Norman Tarsha Gale Cup, going down 22-14 to the Dragons in a highly entertaining game.

Trailing 4-0 early, a try to the Steelers’ Salma Nour in the 29th minute levelled the scores at the break. The Dragons raced to a 10-point lead early in the second stanza with two unanswered tries before Lily Rogan and Lily Gibson levelled again at 14 apiece. However, two late tries to the Red V outfit took the final score line to 22-14.

Alicia-Kate Hawke’s charges take on the Bulldogs in Round 7 Tarsha Gale Cup action this Friday night at Belmore Sports Ground before quickly backing up to play their Round 4 washed out fixture against the Newcastle Knights on Tuesday 29th March.

The Steelers SG Ball and Harold Matts teams have a bye in Round 7.
