Thirroul Edge Wests in Round 10 Classic as Corrimal Climb to Second
At Sid Parrish Park, Thirroul showed composure to edge out Wests 20-18 in a thrilling clash between two premiership heavyweights. With this result, the Butchers retain top spot on the ladder and avenge their heavy 42-16 defeat to the defending premiers in Round 5.
Dapto responded in emphatic fashion after last week’s heartbreaking two-point loss to Collegians, bouncing back with a dominant 46-8 victory. The Canaries ran riot to post their biggest score of the season, sending a clear message that they remain firmly in the hunt for this year’s title.
Corrimal continued its remarkable resurgence with a commanding 68-6 win over Sutherland-Loftus at Henson Park. The Cougars piled on points throughout the afternoon to record their fourth consecutive victory and, coupled with Wests’ loss, moved into outright second place on the ladder courtesy of a superior points differential over both the Devils and Dapto.
With just five rounds remaining, the race for the minor premiership and finals positions is becoming increasingly intense, with the competition’s leading contenders continuing to trade blows each week.
Lower Grades
In Harrigan Plate action, Corrimal defeated Helensburgh 26-4, while Thirroul strengthened their grip on top spot by defeating second-placed Wests 30-4. In the Harrigan Shield, Norths shut out Corrimal 38-0 at Berkeley, and Figtree overcame the hosts 18-10. At Mount Kembla Oval, Avondale Wombats overpowered Windang 28-4, while the Greyhounds edged out the Lowries 8-2.
