The Illawarra Steelers will look to return to winning form when they face the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in their postponed Round 7 NSWRL Women’s Premiership clash on Thursday evening at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
The Steelers have made a strong start to the season, recording four wins from their opening six matches to sit fifth on the ladder. Their campaign began in dominant fashion with consecutive 40-point performances, defeating Wentworthville 40-6 before shutting out St George 40-4. The Steelers then underlined their premiership credentials with an impressive 26-18 home victory over the Sharks.
After opening the season with three straight wins, Illawarra suffered its first setback in a 14-4 loss to Mounties. The team responded immediately, holding off Parramatta 24-22 at WIN Stadium, before going down 22-12 to South Sydney in Round 6.

Through six matches, the Steelers have scored 146 points and conceded just 86, giving them a healthy points differential of plus-60.
The Steelers remain firmly in the finals race, level on eight points with Parramatta and Mounties, with a game in hand, and just two points behind third-placed South Sydney. A victory in the postponed fixture would move them into a share of third position.
While the Bulldogs enter the match still searching for their first win, they have shown they can trouble opponents and will be desperate to turn their season around. For the Steelers, the match presents an important opportunity to rediscover their early-season momentum and consolidate their place among the competition’s leading teams.
