The Illawarra Steelers secured a 40-6 win over the St George Dragons in the local derby on Saturday, marking the final round of the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership.
Zali Yeo and debutant Kiara Kostovski scored twice in the seven tries to one victory in an ideal preparation for next week’s finals series.

Kaarla Cowan opened the scoring for the Steelers in the second minute, followed by tries from Yeo, cousin Sienna, and Kostovski, giving the Steelers a commanding 22-0 lead at halftime.
In the 43rd minute, Zali Yeo was awarded a penalty try after a high tackle, bringing the lead to 28-0. Jamie-Lee Cotter then scored for the Dragons, but Sophie Clancy and Kostovski sealed the victory with converted tries.
Captain Lily Rogan was named the Steelers player of the match for her contribution, including well-timed passes leading to Kostovki’s brace.
The Steelers finished the regular season in second place and will face third-placed Mounties in the sudden-death semifinal on Saturday at Leichhardt Oval at 4.45pm.
