Thirroul Butchers are through to their second consecutive grand final after beating De La Salle 29-4 in the Harrigan Premiership prelimnary final on Saturday at Collegians Sporting Complex. Centre Nelson Sharpe scored a hat-trick for the defending premiers in the six tries to one victory.

The Butchers face Wests in next week’s grand final at WIN Stadium. Jarrod Costello’s men will attempt to become the first team in the club’s history to win back-to-back.
“We’re absolutely stoked,” Sharpe said after the win.
“I missed last year, I was away and came back, and ‘Jacko’ (Costello) put a big emphasis on going back to back.”
While De La Salle put up a valiant second-half effort, they couldn’t recover from the Butchers’ quick start and found themselves trailing 24-0 at the break. It’s the second year in a row the minor premiers have bowed out of the premiership race with consecutive losses in the finals series.
In the lower grades, Berkeley defeated Avondale Wombats in a nail-biting 21-20 victory in Harrigan Plate. The Eagles will meet minor premiers Wests in the decider.
Figtree Crushers defeated Windang 36-16 in the Harrigan Shield to set up a clash with the undefeated Avondale Greyhounds in the Grand Final.
