Thirroul put the competition on notice with an emphatic 40-14 win over the previously undefeated De La Salle in their Mojo Homes Illawarra Cup clash at Gibson Park on Saturday.

The Butchers got the jump on the visitors with three tries in the first 15 minutes before establishing a 22-4 halftime lead in a clinical performance.

A hat-trick to De La Salle winger Tom Rodwell the only bright spot for the Shire heavyweights, who rarely touched the ball in the opening stanza.

Jarrod Costello’s men are now firmly entrenched in the top four after the win, four points clear of Dapto, their nearest rival.

Wests took the outright lead in the competition with a 36-10 win over the Canaries at Dapto Showground, while Collegians got their campaign back on track after two losses on the trot with a 34-4 win over Corrimal.

Meanwhile, Collegians and Wests cemented their positions at the top of the Mojo Homes First Division ladder with wins over Corrimal and Dapto, respectively.

In Harrigan Shield action, Figtree beat Mt Kembla 54-4, and Windang defeated Corrimal 46-12.

Corrimal defeated Jamberoo 30-6 in Open women’s tackle scoring six tries to one against the Sueperoos at Kevin Walsh Oval. Mt Kembla Lowries was beaten 58-0 by Milton-Ulladulla.

The Cougars played out a 10-all draw with Cronulla Caringbah in the Under 18 girls’ tackle.

All competitions will pause for the June Long weekend, with the action resuming Saturday 17th June.
