Corrimal Cougars celebrated a memorable Southern Corridor double after winning the Open Women’s and Under 18 Women’s premierships at WIN Stadium on Sunday.
The Cougars (pictured below) capped an outstanding season by defeating Helensburgh 18-8 in the Open Women’s Grand Final, securing their third consecutive premiership.
Corrimal entered the decider as minor premiers, having suffered just one defeat all season, against their Grand Final opponents in Round 11.
The Tiger Lilies again provided a stern challenge on the biggest stage, but the Cougars rose to the occasion to complete their premiership hat-trick and reinforce their standing as the benchmark of the Open Women’s competition.
Earlier, Corrimal’s Under 18 Women (main picture) also converted a minor premiership into a title with a convincing 24-8 victory over Stingrays.
The Cougars lost only two games during the regular season before producing their best football when it mattered most to complete an impressive campaign.
The two Corrimal victories headlined a full day of female rugby league action at WIN Stadium, with the Dynamoney Illawarra South Coast Merged Competition Under 14 and Under 16 girls’ Grand Finals also decided.
All four junior deciders produced strong performances and competitive football, including two thrilling two-point finishes.
In Under 14.2, Milton-Ulladulla held off Dapto 14-12, while Albion Park Oak Flats edged Shellharbour Sharks 16-14 in the Under 14.1 decider.

St Georges Basin defeated Dapto 20-14 to claim the Under 16.2 premiership, before Gerringong completed an impressive season with a 24-4 victory over Stingrays in the Under 16.1 Grand Final.

The six Grand Finals provided a fitting celebration of the continued growth and strength of female rugby league across the Illawarra, South Coast and Southern Corridor regions.
