De La Salle have wrapped up their second consecutive minor premiership with a 14-10 win over defending premiers Thirroul in the penultimate game of the Harrigan Premiership.
The Weekend Wrap, brought to you by Hahn.
Trent Anderson’s men were the first to score in 3rd minute through Brooklyn Taumata before the Butchers hit back with tries to Kristian Williams and Nelson Sharpe.
Trailing 10-4 at halftime, the visitors kept the Butchers scoreless in the second half with classy pivot Eli Levido scoring a try and one conversion and Alex Challenor crashing over in the four-point win.
Wests ended Dapto’s run to the finals with a 44-12 win over the injury-depleted Canaries outfit. The Devils scored eight tries to two, with Dane Chisholm and Jy Hitchcox scoring doubles. Chisholm kicked six conversions for a personal haul of 20 points.
Elsewhere, Collegians had a hard-fought 20-6 win over Corrimal after leading 12-6 at the break.
With one round remaining, Wests (19), Thirroul (18), and Collegians (18) are locked in a three-way battle for an all-important top-two finish and semi-final hosting rights.
Wests can secure second spot on the ladder with a win over Collegians. However, if Collies and Thirroul, who play Corrimal in the final round, both win then final ladder positions will be decided by points differential, with the Butchers holding the advantage. Though an upset win to the Cougars in the ‘Battle of the Beaches’ is not out of the equation.
