Applications are now open for our 2022 scholarship program, offered in conjunction with our Education Partner UOW College Australia.
“The Steelers are very proud of our association with the University of Wollongong College,” said Steelers Deputy Chairman, Sean O’Connor.
“We are going into our fourth year now. Throughout that period the scholarship has assisted some of our future academic and sporting stars.”
First launched in 2018, past winners include Teagan Berry (2020, Diploma of Nursing] and Melissa Spero [2019, Cert IV in Fitness].
“The scholarship is ideal for outstanding young people like Teagan who have a career pathway they want to pursue,” says UOW College General Manager, Felix Lanceley.
“We’re in fitness, we’re in nursing so the scholarship program aligns perfectly with the Illawarra Rugby League.”
Each year UOW College Australia awards a scholarship (s) to a player or volunteer, affiliated with the Illawarra Division Rugby League Competition, to study an eligible UOW College Australia program with a view to encourage and assist Scholarship recipient(s) to achieve their educational goals
The scholarship (up to $10,000 value) is open to all participants over 16 years of age – players, officials and volunteers – involved in Illawarra Rugby League competitions.
“I would encourage apply for the scholarship because you never know you could be the next winner,” Lanceley added.
