Steelers JNR Reps | Weekend Wrap | Round 2

The Illawarra Steelers SG Ball team defeated the Manly Sea Eagles 32-4 at 4 Pines Park in Sydney on Saturday. The Steelers scored five tries to one, with centre Zane Timmins scoring a brace.

Fullback Lucas Borg opened the scoring in the sixth minute, followed by tries from second-rower Jackson Smith and Timmins during a dominant phase for the visitors, giving them a 16-0 lead. Manly responded with a try in the 25th minute.

Captain Kade Reed added a penalty goal in the final minute of the first half, increasing his team’s lead to 18-4 at the break.

Kirk scored his second try in consecutive matches shortly after halftime in the 37th minute, extending the lead to 24-4. Timmins then scored his second try, sealing the victory for the Steelers.

Reed kicked home four conversions from five attempts and two penalty goals, contributing 12 points to his team’s 28-point victory. The Steelers Lisa Fiaola, Tarsha Gale, and Harold Matthews Cup teams all had a bye in Round 2.

In Round 3, the Steelers men’s teams will travel to Canberra to face the Raiders, while the women’s teams will be playing away against the Bulldogs.
