De La Salle extend their lead at the top of the table with a convincing win over Thirroul, Dapto spring an upset over Wests and Collegians escape a close shave with Corrimal in Round 10 of the Harrigan Premiership.

The Weekend Wrap, brought to you by Hahn.

Playing their first home game since Round 2, De La Salle recorded their fourth consecutive win of the season, outgunning Thirroul 36-16 at Captain Cook Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The Shire-based outfit scored six tries to the visitor’s three in front of a parochial home crowd, with five-eighth Eli Levido kicking six conversions from six attempts.

The convincing win surely establishes Trent Anderson’s troops as premiership favourites after their third win in as many weeks over fellow top-four sides, having also accounted for Wests and Collegians in the last fortnight.

Dapto fulfilled their recent promising form with a 28-16 win over Wests, with former NRL star Joey Leilua crossing for two tries to help the Canaries secure the Tory Brunning Memorial Trophy on Old Boys Day at Dapto Showground.

The 12-point win presented Dapto with their second big scalp of the season after knocking off De La Salle back in Round 2, elevating Blake Wallace’s men to equal fourth on the competition ladder with Thirroul.

Meanwhile, Corrimal almost pulled off an upset, taking Collegians down to the wire in their 28-24 loss at Ziems Park on Sunday afternoon. Trailing 10-6 at the break, the Cougars scored first in the second stanza to poke their nose in front 12-10 before Collies hit back with three unanswered tries and a 24-12 lead.

With Collegians holding onto a 28-18 lead after the two sides traded tries inside the final 20 minutes, the Cougars pounced once again for a late converted try to reduce Collies winning margin to four.
