Collegians ran out 26-16 winners over Thirroul in Saturday’s Mojo Homes Illawarra Cup match-of-the-round.

The defending premiers got off to a bright start through Sam McCann before the Butchers responded with three unanswered tries to lead 16-6 at the break. Second-half tries to Josh Dowel and a double to Toby Rumble put Collies back in front before a Callum Gromek four-pointer sealed the match in the 79th minute.

De La Salle defeated Dapto in a hard-fought affair at Captain Cook Oval. The Canaries had the match within their grasp, leading 20-18 with just over 10 minutes remaining before defensive lapses saw the hosts score three tries in quick succession to take the points.
