Harrigan Motor Group’s commitment to giving back to the community in which they operate has put Illawarra Rugby League (IRL) in the driver’s seat with today’s announcement of a partnership extension for 2024 and 2025.
The new deal includes naming rights to the IRL’s premier men’s competition, to be known as the Harrigan Premiership, and front-of-jersey sponsor of the Illawarra Steelers Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership (HNWP) team. The IRL will conduct the following men’s competitions in 2024:
· Harrigan Premiership (First Grade)
· Harrigan Plate (Reserve Grade)
· Harrigan Shield (2nd Division)
· Harrigan Trophy (U18s)
Harrigan Motor Group has supported the Illawarra community for over 100 years and the IRL for the past two seasons, including as back-of-jersey sponsor of the Steelers open women and junior pathway teams and Harrigan Shield (Men’s 2nd Division) competition.
“Extending our partnership with a local community-focused sporting organisation like the Illawarra Rugby League is a natural fit,” said Wes Dawson, Dealer Principal, Harrigan Motor Group.
“This renewed partnership supports our commitment to building long-term relationships within the community where we operate.”
IRL Board of Management Chairman John Brannon appreciates Harrigan Motor Group’s ongoing support, stating their commitment will help his team continue to drive the growth of rugby league in the region.
“It’s great to have Harrigan Motor Group as our new men’s competition naming rights partner and backing our women as front-of-jersey sponsor,” Brannon said.
“This partnership is very important for our local league growth aspirations, our junior pathway programs, and our open women’s premiership side preparing to play their second HNWP season this year.”
Inaugural Steelers HNWP Player of the Year and newly appointed 2024 club captain Lily Rogan was on hand to launch the partnership along with Thirroul Butchers Coach Jared Costello and Captain Hayden Crosland, the IRL’s reigning premiers.
“Harrigan had our back last year, so it’s great to have them on board again this season,” Rogan said.
