SG Ball bow out of finals

The Steelers SG Ball side bowed out of the 2024 NSWRL Junior Reps Finals Series with a 44-16 loss to the Newcastle Knights at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The weekend wrap is brought to you by the Harrigan Motor Group.

The Steelers scored first through Toby Rumble for a 6-0 lead but found themselves trailing 24-6 at the break.

As it was all season, injuries were a curse for the Steelers, who finished the game with just 11 men for the final few minutes after serious injuries to Seth Pearman and Jackson Smith and no interchanges remaining.

To their credit, the Shaun Timmins-coached outfit never gave up in the 8-tries-to-3 loss.

It was a disappointing end to a campaign that started brightly, winning their first four games.

However, coach Shaun Timmins had the opportunity to blood several players who will back up again next year, including Zane Timmins and Leeroy Wetherall from the Harold Matthews Cup Under 17s.

Attention now turns to the Steelers Lisa Fiaola U17s and Tarsha Gale U19s girls playing for a spot in their respective Grand Finals this weekend.
